Remember The First Time You Played Monopoly?

    September 18th, 2008

Monopoly Board GameDo you remember the first time that you played Monopoly?  It seemed like a fun game and everyone wanted to play, but it just looked so confusing and complicated.  At this point you might have played checkers or Yahtzee a couple of times in your life, but never a game this complex.

Then you finally got your family together and begged them to teach you how to play.  It was the longest 2-3 hours of your life, but you had so much fun.  Money was coming in, you had houses and hotels all over the board.  Things were looking pretty sweet and then, your older brother implemented his own rule regarding the “little brother tax”.  You were crushed and there was nothing you could do.

Now they have a ton of versions and it seems like you can get a version for every single hit TV show ever made.  It’s still the same old fun game, but not as fun as the vintage version of Monopoly that your grandmother has packed in the closet.

Do you remember the first time you played Monopoly?

UNO is a Great Card Game

I think one of my earliest memories of playing cards is with an old stack of UNO cards.  I loved to visit my grandmas house in the summer because she had a ton of card games and board games to play.

    UNO Card deck

UNO was one of them.  The huge deck with all the colorful cards was so exciting to play.  The best was when you could run your cards out and your big brother still had a handful of cards left making you the winner.  Older siblings hate losing to younger ones, I think everyone knows that.

These days UNO has transformed into kind of a brand game.  You can get Spongebob Squarepants UNO cards or even an UNO dice game.  The game is really still a staple in the “gaming” culture, even if companies sell out and try making an extra buck or two from it.

    TV Show Board Games

    August 17th, 2008

Games like Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy and Family fued have all been made into fun board games.  Obviously it really isn’t the same thing as watching it on a television, but at least if you are a huge fan of the show, the game might be just as fun for you.

    Jeopardy Board Game

The one problem that I do have about game like this, is that you really can only play them one time through.  Once you see all the boards that Jeopardy has to offer, you are going to be able to recall some of the questions.  The game won’t be as fun because of this and basically it will be tossed into the closet that nobody ever goes into.

There are plenty of other board games to choose from that are based on TV Shows that I have never even heard of.  Check them all out in our store.
